War & Peace but more so peace ๐Ÿ˜‡

I really loved the overall idea of this project I remember seeing past classes' and always hoped to get this opportunity. I really like antiques and old things so to be able to make something more aged than what is really is was interesting to me. I kinda wish i would have stained the paper with more tea bags to give it a more old and dingy look. But I think it works. I'll say the most complicated part of this piece was not being able to show the full invention. I struggle with having something look very complete or detailed so this kind of took me back a couple steps.
I wanted my composition to be triangular so that I could have the viewer look around the paper and that I could utilize each side of the paper in a sense. I did research and saw that DaVinci used a reddish brown or burnt sienna colored conte and I really liked how it looked. I never used this colored conte so it was challenging at first because its not very forgiving and its thick. I loved shading with this it was very pleasing to my eyes. I also used a yellow alcoholic ink to stain the paper so that it would give a real yucky sense that it has been deteriorating for a long time. Of course burning was fun i actually ripped a huge chunk out of the piece and i felt like it helped the composition and just became more interesting.
The invention itself is a peaceful bunny droid. In the arms of the bunny it releases hormones that sprinkle over the world where stressed or feeling anything but positive, When they go into the bloodstream everyone becomes happy no need to feel anger or sadness anything. It flies around with wings that emits a really radiant bright light that gives you a sense of warmth and safe feeling. On the actual bunny's face there are rotating cheeks that instantly give you a loopy yet happy feeling as well. Overall I'm happy with my last project of my college career!

Motion Video

For this project I believe this was a very time consuming and difficult at times. This was probably the most hard project because it was my first time doing this project. I started with a lot of ideas but ended up with something that I thought would be simple and quick. I was wrong I chose to show a dandelion but I never knew how they grew as a full flower first then closed and opened up as a seed head.Drawing everything was interesting at first then got annoying. So I didn't just want to show a flower because I felt that would be a boring story to watch. So my concept was that someone was having a bad day and then sees the flower and becomes happy instantly and someone else around the world is having a bad day also. When the first person blows the dandelion the seeds travel with love and spreading happiness to the second person crying. When the seed lands on the persons' nose she becomes happy instantly just like the first person. So the title "The Little Seed" is pretty much like the little engine that could but in this case its the little seed that could make people happy.

The second time around I believe I will have a better understanding and an easier time to show a better story. I feel that it's safe to say for my first time this just a test to show a step by step process to look like a little video. It was my first time using this material as well but it was pretty smooth to work with it blended well and also erased nicely or left a nice gray smoky look. I also struggled with how unrealistic and childish it looks i'm used to being very detailed so it was hard knowing that this drawing was so corny to me. But hey we all know I can draw so i'm happy at the end of the day!

creative marks

For this creative works piece I was really excited but then when the project actually came I thought "What the heck am I going to do?" With me trying to prepare for an important conference and go back and forth with my classes I kind of was all over the place. My first attempt was an idea I thought would work perfectly. I mixed paint and water in a perfume bottle and sprayed my paper so that the actual mist would be the creative mark, but that was a bust. This project was challenging to me because I'm not an abstract person nor do I care for it, so I felt as if my heart wasn't in this in the beginning. I kept trying different things wondering if they;d make some cool marks but I just was lost. It got frustrating. But i'm kind of a science nerd so I wanted to construct something simple that would actually work with gravity/ momentum to get the creative mark.

I then made a little contraption that would rotate the piece of paper balancing on a Styrofoam ball and candle holder. At first I had a nail pushed in the middle of the Styrofoam ball and the center of the paper and had it rotate. I would drop paint and ink in the middle and spin the paper so the ink made a vein like effect. This got very messy. For my other attempt that I used on the final piece was that I didn't use a nail but i just rotated the paper and place my paintbrush anywhere and didn't look as i did it i would spin the paper 3 times and then switch paint colors. I added ink after I felt there was enough colors. Overall I think it was interesting and if I didn't go out of town or had spring break right after I think i could have put more time in the piece.

Exquisite

From the beginning of starting this project it was like I was stuck for days. I would research many different weird things just to get a feel of what I could do. Seeing that I did this project on my own it was more challenging that what I thought because I would have to try my hardest to make it look like I didn't go solo on this one. But it was hard because you know exactly where you mark things to connect them as such with the same value even though I covered up some panels. I tried to incorporate different art styles and different materials but it honestly just didn't look right to me just because this was out of my comfort zone. I would say I'm a girly girl that likes bright and pretty things and I stay far away from creepy and scary things. So ideally I just thought of something that was still weird and messed up yet classy and pretty in a sense.
Composition wise I thought well hey since I don't have a partner I have creative control over everything and just thought to put my exquisite body in her own environment to just give a little more to the project. The most challenging to this project was actually trying to figure out what I could do with the negative space. I never used this paper so I was hesitant on getting darker on it and actually using the shade as a natural color but as I got more material on it and got darker I started to like it better. Another tricky thing yet fun was drawing upside down I would flip throughout each panel to challenge myself some more and it's interesting that the parts I did flip actually work with the piece. I did aim to draw a couple things with my left hand and it worked but was really weird. So I would say bottom line drawing this piece all together was weird rather than the actual piece its' self.

Ball Point Project

Hello๐Ÿ’Ÿ!

This was first time doing a process such as using only a ballpoint pen and also my first blog ever!  This process was giving me some anxiety issues. I never enjoyed drawing with pens because most of the time you if you make a mistake you can't take it back. I like pencils just go to be safe and go the easy route. I will say that at first I was very cautious with how heavy I held the pen to the paper after some mistakes of pressing down with too much pressure. Overtime I did like the challenge. One thing I just wish is that I could have used a pink pen๐Ÿ˜…

I would say the most challenging part of this project was showing movement of the water from the bottom of the sea going up to space. At first I had the water lightly shaded to show the marks of waves but then it was too light and my outer space didn't have a relationship with any other section of the drawing besides the mermaids hair. When I made the water darker it put the piece in more perspective to me and became pleasing to my eyes. I was really getting tired of shading and pressing hard with my pen so to see it was coming put pretty nicely I was happy.

My initial thoughts for the overall theme was to incorporate some of my own dreams from over time and things I like. For one this is like a girl's dream world. Roses, petals, oceans, castles, mermaids, pearls, and a beautiful night sky to look at? Which one out of those doesn't a woman appreciate? I love the ocean and astrology I have become fascinated with galaxies and astronomy such as different constellations. Also I don't know a female who claimed they didn't like "The Little Mermaid" or if they never wanted to be a mermaid even become one now if they could. I have always had an interest in mystical things and celestial beauty and beings so this a mix of underwater fantasy world meeting a celestial world. For the hour glass it symbolizes a balance between the two worlds and also gives a metaphor of other things. This article I read spoke the most to me and sums up exactly how i felt about the hour glass.(http://www.sunsigns.org/)

"The curvaceousness of the shape directly references the female and the specific cycles that she experiences in her life. As it is fully developed, the hourglass symbolizes a woman who has gone through the cycle of maiden to mother to crone. This spirit symbol shows that she has both learned and grown."

Indeed I wanted to incorporate all these things without adding so much. For one I'm a Pisces I felt as if I'm the mermaid in which I always wanted to be, I'm delicate, sensitive yet beautiful like a rose even with my fallen petals, overtime I have learned a lot of lessons and grown from them and finally I know I'm a queen, a go-getter and I will build my empire.
